Account

What sign-in options are available?

You can use Bunkalist as a guest (no account required), or sign in with Google, Sign in with Apple (iOS only), or an email and password. Signing in syncs your data across all your devices.

Can I use Bunkalist without creating an account?

Yes. You can use the app as a guest. Your data is stored locally and tied to your device. If you uninstall the app without linking your data to a Google or Apple account first, it cannot be recovered. We recommend signing in to keep your data safe.

I forgot my password — how do I reset it?

On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and enter your email address. You'll receive a password reset link. If you signed in with Google or Apple, your password is managed by those services — use their account recovery flows.

How do I delete my account and all my data?

You can delete your account directly in the app:

  1. 1 Go to Settings (tap your avatar or the gear icon)
  2. 2 Scroll to the Account section at the bottom
  3. 3 Tap Delete Account and confirm

Your profile, watchlists, ratings, and tops will be permanently deleted within 30 days. If you're unable to access the app, email us at bunkalist@gmail.com with subject "Delete my account" and we'll process it manually.

How do I make my profile public or private?

Go to Settings → Privacy & Data and toggle Public Profile. When your profile is public, other users can see your Tops lists. Your watchlist and ratings are always private.

Subscriptions & Payments

What does Bunkalist Premium include?

Premium unlocks additional features beyond the free tier. The exact features included in your plan are shown on the paywall screen within the app before purchase.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple or Google. You must cancel through them:

📱 iOS (iPhone / iPad)

  1. Open Settings → tap your Apple ID at the top
  2. Tap Subscriptions
  3. Find Bunkalist and tap Cancel Subscription

🤖 Android

  1. Open the Google Play Store app
  2. Tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions
  3. Find Bunkalist and tap Cancel subscription

Access continues until the end of the current billing period.

How do I request a refund?

All payments are processed by Apple or Google. Refunds must be requested directly from them:

We have no direct control over the refund process. If you have a billing dispute not resolved by Apple or Google, contact us at bunkalist@gmail.com.

I purchased Premium but features are still locked — what do I do?

Try these steps in order:

  1. 1 Force-close and re-open Bunkalist
  2. 2 Go to Settings → Account and tap Restore Purchases
  3. 3 Ensure you're signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account used for the purchase
  4. 4 Check your internet connection and try again

If the issue persists, email us at bunkalist@gmail.com with your purchase receipt and we'll investigate.

Does my subscription transfer across platforms (iOS ↔ Android)?

No. App Store and Google Play subscriptions are separate and do not transfer between platforms. If you switch from iOS to Android (or vice versa), you'll need to purchase a new subscription on the new platform and cancel the old one to avoid double billing.

Data & Privacy

What data does Bunkalist collect about me?

We collect the minimum data needed to run the app: your account info (if signed in), your watchlists and ratings, anonymous analytics, and crash reports. We do not collect your location, contacts, or photos. We never sell your data. For full details, read our Privacy Policy.

How do I request a copy of my data (GDPR)?

Email us at bunkalist@gmail.com with the subject "Data Access Request" from the email address associated with your account. We will respond within 30 days.

How do I opt out of analytics?

Analytics data is anonymous and aggregated. If you wish to limit data collection, you can disable crash reporting in Settings → Privacy & Data. For more control, contact us at bunkalist@gmail.com.

Does Bunkalist show ads?

No. Bunkalist does not show ads and does not use third-party advertising networks. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

App & Features

My lists are not syncing across my devices — how do I fix this?

Sync requires an active internet connection and a signed-in account. Try these steps:

  1. 1 Make sure you're signed in with the same account on both devices
  2. 2 Check your internet connection
  3. 3 Force-close the app and reopen it
  4. 4 Update to the latest version of Bunkalist
I'm not receiving push notifications — what can I check?

Check the following:

  • 📲 In your device Settings → Notifications → Bunkalist, ensure notifications are enabled
  • 🔔 In Bunkalist Settings → Notifications, check that the relevant toggles are on
  • 🔕 Check your device is not in Do Not Disturb or Focus mode
  • 🔋 Check that battery optimisation is not blocking background activity (Android)
The app crashed or I found a bug — how do I report it?

We're sorry! Please email bunkalist@gmail.com with:
– What you were doing when it happened
– Your device model and OS version (e.g., iPhone 15, iOS 17.4)
– App version (visible at the bottom of Settings)
Any screenshots or screen recordings are very helpful.

Content metadata (poster, description, cast) looks wrong — can you fix it?

All content metadata is sourced from The Movie Database (TMDB). If you notice an error (wrong poster, missing info, incorrect cast), you can help fix it by contributing directly to TMDB at themoviedb.org. Updates from TMDB will appear in Bunkalist automatically.

How do I change my display name or profile picture?

Tap your avatar in the app to open your profile. From there you can edit your display name and upload a profile picture from your photo library.
